In Response To: How to get rid of hum from soundcard (Michael Sullivan)

If your computer and receiver both have a grounded (3 prong) power plug, you might be able to solve the hum (if it's 60hz.) by using a ground buster plug. Use a 3 prong to 2 prong power plug adapter found at most hardware stores on either the PC or the receiver. They are usually grey in color and have either a wire or a metal screw tab somewhere on the plug. If it has a wire you should either cut it off or tape or insulate the spade tip end. An inexpensive way to see if it's just a ground loop problem. Good luck. TK
